May Top - Maroon Dot
made in Los Angeles
Don’t you sometimes wish that all of this “fast fashion” didn’t exist? That your clothes were hand made and tailored for you by the local dressmaker? Wouldn’t that be FUN?!
You would purchase bolts of fabric from exotic places, your cotton from India, linen lace and silk from France. Your basic cottons would be locally grown and milled and would be always available at your local dressmakers.
But the specialty fabrics that you procure would be rare and treasured. Much thought would have to go into the pieces you make from them.
For your thin brightly colored cotton from India, you might choose to make a full skirt or a beautiful blouse.
Linen you might make a lovely pair of trousers with a light blazer. The lace would be used for trimmings on your basic cotton pieces.
And for your rich burgundy silk with small white polka dots? I think you would choose a slim skirt that rests perfectly at your waist. To go with it you would make an incredibly chic button up tank. Both of these pieces would be exquisitely cut. You would be the envy of all of your contemporaries. Ahead of your time.
